Morning Heritage Walk of Varanasi with Manikarnika Ghat




OVERVIEW:

Today set off for your tour of Varanasi’s heritage lanes. pick up from the local hotel . From here proceed to Manikarnika Lane, which will lead you to the heritage sightseeing in and around Manikarnika Ghat.

Located near to the Manikarnika ground at Meer Ghat on the banks of the Ganges, you’ll visit Vishalakshi Temple, one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Hindu Divine Mother Goddess. It is generally regarded as a Shakti Pitha - sacred shrines and pilgrimage destinations of Goddess-focused cult worship.

Afterward move toward Lalita Ghat, named after Hindu Goddess Lalita, one of the incarnations of Goddess Durga. Lalita Ghat is one of the seven most prominent ghats of Varanasi. One can find several temples at this ghat and you’ll be visiting one among them to the Nepali Temple.

Nepali Temple is one of the oldest and most famous Shiva temples in Varanasi. The temple was built in the 19th century by the King of Nepal, who was living in exile, imitating the famous Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal. The temple features Nepali style of architecture and is made of wood, stone and terracotta.

You’ll now be arriving at the Manikarnika Ghat, the place of cremation for the followers of Hindu. Manikarnika Ghat is one of the oldest, sacred and the main cremation site in Varanasi. You’ll observe traditional way of last cremation rites being performed, which as per Hindu mythology is the way to attain moksha.

Just past Manikarnika Ghat is the Matri Rin (meaning mother’s debt) Mandir, the leaning temple of Varanasi (like the leaning tower of Pisa), partially submerged under the water of the Ganges River. Listen to the many interesting legends behind the temple’s presence.

Also sight the Kashi Karwat, a temple where in the olden time people used to come to die, as it was supposedly the short-cut to heaven and moksha, as per Hindu beliefs. After the walking tour is finished, return to your original departure point, taking awe-inspired memories. Your tour ends here.
